🔼 Ballin’ Bamba. Shocker men’s basketball just got one step closer to honing in on its final roster before the start of the 2023-24 season. Head coach Paul Mills has been hard at work on the recruiting front, and that work has paid off with the signing of Canadian guard, Yanis Bamba.

Bamba (not Mo’s brother) will make his way to Wichita as a product of Jean de Brebeuf High School in Quebec. He made waves in the American AAU circuit last summer with his solid frame and all-around playmaking skills. When you get a guy that can average…

  • 13.5 points per game

  • 5.4 rebounds per game

  • 3.7 assists per game

  • nearly two steals per game

…coaches know that there is a lot of potential to be unlocked at a top tier program like Wichita State. The 6-foot-6 guard has the potential to defend any position at the floor, and will be a great piece for the future of Shocker men’s basketball.

🔼 Shockers’ Spanish Star. The 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup tips off tomorrow, and a familiar face from the Shocker family will be representing her home country. Daniela Abies, WSU’s sophomore forward, is going to lace ‘em up for Spain in the upcoming international tournament. This marks the second time she will play for Spain after playing for the Spanish National Team for the U18 squad.

🔼 Save the Date! The inaugural Black and Yellow Gala will be later this summer on August 19th at the Charles Koch Arena. The event will go directly toward the support of all Shocker student-athletes and teams. Join us for this fantastic fundraising event by purchasing tickets down below.

🌾 ONE BIG THING

The Roundhouse Podcast is back (with a flashy new design we might add) to discuss some hot topics like the upcoming AfterShocks tourney debut and the unforgettable 2013 Final Four run with special guests Zach Bush and Ron Baker.

Both guests are back in Wichita for the 10 year reunion of the 2013 Final Four Shocker team. As you would guess, they dive back in to their glory days with a bit of trivia, walk down memory lane about that surreal 2013 season, and talk about their roles for TBT.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Friday, July 21st!

That’s less than a week away until the AfterShocks open things up against the B1 Ballers. Luckily for you, there’s still time to grab tickets to come see some former Shockers ball out back in Koch Arena and honored from the 2013 Final Four team at halftime.

Have a great weekend, y’all.
