🔼 Lessons Learned. The Roundhouse is here to break down the Shockers’ opening performance against Oklahoma that saw them capture an exhibition win. The three takeaways?

1. WSU has a strong defense.

2. Head Coach Chris Lamb’s emphasis on scoring in the offseason will greatly benefit the team.

3. Transfer Izzi Strand’s performance was significant.

🔼 Those Summer Nights. WSU’s hottest event of the year, the Black and Yellow Gala, went off without a hitch this weekend. Coaches, staff, and fans from all over gathered to benefit and support the current, and future, Shocker student-athletes in each athletic program.

🔼 A New Era. Since Director of Athletics Kevin Saal busted onto the scene in June of 2022, he’s made it a point to transform Wichita State into a place where staying with the program is the most attractive option.

🗣️ “We’ve got to have some joy and fun in what we’re doing. Our industry has changed….[and] we need connectors.” - Kevin Saal

In just over a year on the job, Saal has helped bring in a new men’s basketball coach, women’s basketball coach, and baseball coach. Saal understands the value that each of these new hires can bring, and what they could do for Wichita State University

🔼 Hitting Reset. Shocker track and field had the opportunity to get away this week and focus on getting better for the upcoming season. Safe to say, our defending AAC Champs have their eyes on the prize.
