🏀 Last But Not Least
🇬🇷 Updates from Greece

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Last But Not Least. WSU’s final men’s basketball roster spot has officially been filled by Missouri State graduate transfer, Dalen Ridgnal. Ridgnal joined the team just before the Shockers headed overseas to Greece.

🗣️ “He is a force on the glass as one of the best rebounding forwards in the country. We are confident that his abilities will translate well to help us this upcoming season.” - Head Coach Paul Mills

Last season, Ridgnal played in 31 games and finished in the double digits five times. Prior to playing at Missouri State, the forward spent a season in the SEC with the Georgia Bulldogs where he saw roughly 10 minutes per game.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Your favorite Shockers podcast is back at it again. This time, the crew sits down with WSU’s softball pitching coach Courtney Oliver to talk about facing Shocker hitters from the opposing dugout, how her time as an athlete helped shape her career, and much more!

🔼 Early Season Action. Shocker baseball will open up the 2024 season with one of college baseball’s premier tournaments in the Jax College Baseball Classic. The tourney, held in Jacksonville, Florida, will feature three of the top-25 teams from last season, including the 50-win Virginia Cavaliers. Also attending will be Iowa and Auburn over the course of the three-day stretch.

We are only a few weeks out from the inaugural Black and Yellow Gala happening August 19th at the Charles Koch Arena. The event will go directly support all Shocker student-athletes and teams. Join us for this fantastic fundraising event by purchasing tickets down below.

🤔 SHOCKER TRIVIA

New Year, New Motto. Last week, we featured Wichita State’s newest campaign for the 2023-24 athletic calendar that will serve as the way for each player, coach, and fan to have pride within the program.

🌾 ONE BIG THING

The scenery in Greece is hard to beat, but the scenes from the Shocker’s first exhibition game were almost just as beautiful.

WSU faced off against the Thessaloniki All Stars in their first action of the new athletic calendar year, and saw some players make some serious plays. Colby Rogers finished the game as the team’s highest scorer with 16 points, and Xavier Bell wasn’t far behind him with 15 points that included this monster dunk just before halftime. Rounding out the three-headed offensive attack was Quincy Ballard who put up 14 points on a variety of slams at the rim.

With win number one under the Shockers’ belt, the team will now take on the University of Calgary in Athens to face off in a two-game series. Remember to stay up to date with @GoShockersMBB to get all the happenings on what’s going on overseas.
