Going to the Beach, One Big Thing, and much more!
Good morning! Shocker basketball is still three months away, but that doesn’t mean our men’s and women’s teams are taking the offseason lightly!
What all are we mixing into today’s Brew?
🏀 Going to the Beach
🥎 One Big Thing
🌾 And much, much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Going to the Beach. The Myrtle Beach Invitational bracket has been set, and Shocker men’s basketball will be facing off against Coastal Carolina in their opening game of the tournament on November 16th.
The field is comprised of eight teams, four of which won conference regular season titles last season. No one said winning tournaments was easy!
🚨 Shocker Fans: be on the lookout for an experiential trip package through Total Sports Travel that will come available to soon. If you are interested in going on the trip, let us know!
🔼 Shocker Form. Former Shocker Alec Bohm has been an emerging star for the Philadelphia Phillies as of late, and much of his success can be credited to the Shocker baseball coaching staff.
🔼 Two Hot. The boys over in Greece are starting to show what this team is going to be all about: winning. Shocker men’s basketball has put together a 2-0 record since landing across the pond.
In Monday’s game against the University of Calgary, four players for WSU finished in the double-digits with forward Ronnie DeGray III leading the way with 19 points. Eleven of his points came in the clutch during the second half, extending the lead for the Shockers to double digits. Quincy Ballard and Harlond Beverly both finished the game with 16 points apiece while newcomer Dalen Ridgnal added another 12 points after all was said and done.
The Shockers wrap up their exhibition tour of Greece later today where they will once again face the University of Calgary, and hope to complete their undefeated record overseas.
🔼 Volleyball is Back. The return of fall means the return of Shocker volleyball. The team completed its first official day of practice, and it seems like there are nothing but good vibes coming from the team.

Big news: Wilkins Stadium is getting a huge upgrade!
The WSU Board of Trustees announced their plan to invest $3 million dollars into the stadium. The project features the plan to construct a new indoor facility which includes locker rooms, training rooms, staff offices, and much more.
🗣️ “The investment that the university is putting into the sport of softball is setting the bar high for women’s sports programs across the country. This is an exciting and historic time for Wichita State softball.” - Head coach Kristi Bredbenner
Phase 1A of the project will begin by the end of the 2023-24 academic year. This is truly ground breaking stuff, and in more than one way.
