🔼 Tahoe Showdown. Wichita State men's basketball has added a marquee matchup to its 2026 nonconference slate, taking on USC at the inaugural Caesars Lake Tahoe Classic on Sunday, Nov. 8 at the Tahoe Blue Event Center in Stateline, Nev. The event brings eight Division I programs together for a full day of hoops. The Shockers arrive off a 24-win season and a second straight postseason berth, with 10 players returning, including American Conference Sixth Man of the Year Will Berg. Tickets go on sale today through Ticketmaster and the Tahoe Blue Event Center Box Office.

🔼 The Dillons. A fan promised Dillon Battie a cat named in his honor if he stayed a Shocker. Five months later, the Dillons finally met. The Wichita Eagle tells us how it happened.

🔼 Poll Position. Wichita State cross country landed in the top half of the American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, with the men picked third and the women fifth. The men pulled in two first-place votes and return four of their top seven from last year's conference meet, including conference champion and All-American Elkana Kipruto. Transfers Nicholas Kipchirchir from Virginia Tech and Dennis Rono from Arizona State bolster the group. The women bring back 2025 American Conference Freshman of the Year Mercy Jepkoech along with outdoor 800-meter champion Jasmine Stiede.

🔼 Fall Slate Set. Wichita State women's tennis has released its 2026 fall schedule, opening Sept. 19 at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., where Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli will compete in both singles and doubles. From there, the Shockers head to Lincoln for the Nebraska Invitational on Sept. 25 before the ITA Central Region Championships in Memphis on Oct. 14-19. A busy late October and early November includes the Conference Individual Championships, the W25K Norman Open, and stops in Rome, Ga., Fort Worth, Texas, and Tulsa, Okla. The fall wraps Nov. 9-16 at the W15K Nebraska Open.
