Today, the Shocker tennis trio ends their run at All-Americans and a men’s golf recap

🌾 ONE BIG THING

The Wichita State trio representing the Shockers at the ITA All-American Championships have ended their runs in the qualifying round of the tournament. On the men’s side, doubles team Alejandro Jacome and Kristof Minarik fell in straight sets to a duo from Florida State. The Shocker duo reached the qualifying round after back-to-back upset wins over the weekend, becoming the first to compete in the qualifying round since 2011.

Shocker women's tennis sophomore Xin Tong Wang fell in three sets, ending her run with a 4-1 record at the ITA All-American Championships. She is the first Shocker since 2009 to advance out of the pre-qualifying draw at All-Americans and is the first Shocker to win multiple matches at All-Americans in any bracket since 2017.

🔼 Match Week. Wichita State volleyball begins American Athletic Conference play with a road match at Memphis tonight before returning home to battle Temple on Friday evening. The Shocker will look to build off the momentum of a 2-1 showing at the Shocker Volleyball Classic with their first tests of the AAC schedule. Heading into tonight’s matchup, the Shockers hold a 10-4 all-time advantage against the Tigers, including a 9-3 mark in AAC play.

🔼 Good To Be Back. Shocker women’s basketball newcomer Taylor Jameson is getting ready for the final season of her collegiate career. Despite being new, the Wichita Heights alum and former George Mason guard is looking to bring energy and leadership to her hometown team. See why Jameson says that coming back home with the best opportunity for her. 

🔼 Got It Done. In the second tournament of the fall season, Shocker men's golf wrapped up a ninth-place finish at the Git-R-Done Invitational. The team saw improved results in the second round, thanks to good playing from Michael Winslow, Jose Ramirez, and Jose Carletta, boosting the Shockers to as high as fifth place in the standings during the round.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: David Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira!

In 2011, Cavalcanti and Pereira were also the last Shockers to win multiple matches at All-Americans, where they won six matches, en route to a quarterfinals appearance, falling to the eventual champion duo from Ohio State.
