🌾 ONE BIG THING

Shocker volleyball had six players with at least seven kills, including a career-high 16 from Emerson Wilford, to earn a four-set win against Memphis on Wednesday night. The win helped improve the team to 6-2 on conference openers since joining the AAC in 2017. Izzi Strand shined for the Shockers, recording eight kills, 16 digs and 37 assists while Brooklyn Leggett finished with double-digit kills (10) and added a trio of blocks. Wichita State returns home to take on Temple tonight at Charles Koch Arena with first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 The Big Reveal. Shocker men’s basketball has completed its 2024-25 men's basketball schedule with the announcement of the AAC 18-game schedule. League play opens on Jan. 3 at Temple and the home opener will see the reigning regular season champions, South Florida, come to Charles Koch Arena on Jan. 6. The final week of the regular season wraps up with road games at North Texas (March 3) and Rice (March 6), and the finale at home vs. Tulsa on March 9 with the postseason set for March 12-16 in Fort Worth, Texas.

🔼 Gotta Run. Shocker cross country will venture over to Columbia, Missouri, this weekend to compete in the sixth annual Gans Creek Classic. The race presents the highest level of competition for the Shockers this regular season as the Shockers look to move up in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Rankings. This will be the first race for the Shockers since their home opener, the JK Gold Classic on Sept. 7, where the men claimed the team title without top runner Adrian Diaz Lopez. On the women’s side, Miranda Dick is scheduled to make her 2024 season debut after sitting out the first two meets of the season.

🔼 The Big Reveal II. Like the men’s side, Shocker women’s basketball has too finalized its 2024-25 schedule with a full slate of American Athletic Conference games. The conference schedule features 18 games, nine home and nine away, beginning Dec. 29 at home in Charles Koch Arena against UTSA. The Shockers will welcome AAC Tournament champion Rice on Jan. 15 and will close out the regular season at home against North Texas on Mar. 4. The 2025 American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship returns to Fort Worth on March 8-12.

🔼 The Roundhouse Podcast. Shocker softball outfielder Lauren Lucas and first baseman Cam Compton update us on fall practices and their rebound seasons after injuries sidelined both in 2024. The two talk about staying engaged as unofficial hitting coaches last spring and how they leaned on teammates and family while out of uniform. Plus, the duo dives into growing up in a family of athletes, restaurants in Southeast Kansas and their advice for the younger Shockers.
