Will Berg is sending kids to Koch Arena. The 7-foot-2 senior center bought 10 season tickets for the 2026-27 campaign and donated them to the Wichita Children's Home, which becomes the seventh organization receiving community tickets alongside groups like League 42, the YMCA, and Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters. Berg said he knows how hard it can be as a kid facing adversity and wants to give them memories they'll keep. Last season's donors provided more than 3,300 men's basketball tickets and 450 women's basketball tickets, and all have signed on again for this year.

🔼 Statement in Columbia. Wichita State's men took down two nationally ranked programs at the Gans Creek Classic, finishing third as a team with 170 points. Nicholas Kipchirchir led the way in third with a personal-best 8K of 22:40.5, with Elkana Kipruto right behind in fifth despite a slow start. Kirk Hunter credited the back half of the scoring five (Kelvin Kipyego, Austin Carrera, and Dennis Rono, who ran a lifetime PR) for pulling it off.

On the women's side, Vivien Kipkorir took 17th and shaved over a minute off her personal best with a 20:01.3, the second-fastest time in program history. The Shockers are off two weekends before the Pre-National Invitational on Oct. 16.

🔼 Loaded Backcourt. Kenyon Giles is practicing and eligible to play after a preliminary injunction in Indiana stopped the NCAA from barring him and other plaintiffs seeking a fifth year, and Paul Mills likes what the roster looks like around him. Newcomers Jordan Frison and Jahari Long both averaged double figures at their previous stops and are strong passers, brought in to feed a frontcourt of Will Berg, Dillon Battie, and T.J. Williams. Mills says the Shockers will be far more skilled and won't need to lean on Giles the way they did a year ago. If he plays, Mills projects him as conference player of the year.

🔼 Shockers On The Big Stage. Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli wrapped up their run at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., after facing some of the country's toughest competition. Wang, ranked No. 117, opened singles qualifying with a three-set win over UC Santa Barbara's Emma Tutoveanu before falling to No. 82 Brooke Black of Florida in a tight third set. In doubles, the No. 50-ranked pairing of Wang and Roselli took the opening set off No. 2 Roisin Gilheany and Victoria Osuigwe of NC State before dropping a match tiebreak. The duo returns to action Oct. 14-19 at the ITA Central Region Championships in Memphis.
