🌾 ONE BIG THING

Hard Launch. Wichita State baseball head coach Brian Green has announced the program's 2026 roster, featuring 38 players. The full roster can be viewed HERE

The new-look Shockers return seven players from 2025. Of the remaining 31 players new to the Shocker Baseball program, 14 are transfers from other four-year schools.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Role Play. Brian Amuneke knows his reputation is that of a shooter. He thinks he can do more than that, however, and he’s showing other skills as the Wichita State MBB team starts full basketball practices this week.

"Not a lot of people know I can make shots off the dribble," he said. "I can create space for myself and make a shot, whether it's a contested shot or an open shot. Coach [Paul] Mills says if you have the ball, he doesn't want somebody to be a ball stopper."

Amuneke, a sophomore transfer from Fresno State, is one of the many new Shockers whom Mills is working into new roles.

🔼 Sheer Madness. Basketball season is weeks away, and women's team newcomers Bella Belong, Sophie Benharouga and Karys Washington join the podcast in advance of Shocker Madness on Oct. 4. We discuss their favorite pro basketball players, their musical tastes and book and movie recommendations.

Bella describes her goal of opening an orphanage in Cameroon, while Karys' career plan is to become an orthodontist. Sophie reveals the story behind her uniform number, which is one rarely found on the basketball court.

🔼 The Gateway to Good Golf. The Wichita State men’s golf team is set to open play in its third tournament of the year, the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, today at Gateway National Golf Links.

The Shockers enter fresh off a fourth-place finish at the Git-R-Done Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., last week—a tournament where the Shockers were only defeated by three Power Four programs. The Shockers were in contention for the lead before ultimately settling into fourth.

Wichita State opened the 2024-25 campaign at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, where they finished as team runner-up behind host SIUE by just four strokes.

⛳️: FIELD & MORE

🔼 Baseball’s All Relative. Brady Pacha knows his Shocker baseball history from a first-hand perspective, sitting on the metal bleachers above the first-base dugout.

"It was always fun, everyone cheering them on," Pacha said. "Alec Bohm was fun to watch, because he's one of the best Shockers there was."

Pacha's connection to Shocker baseball doesn't end with Bohm, now playing third base for Philadelphia. He and his family are friends with the family of Carl Hall, the former outfielder who died in 2024. He also knows the Dreifort family and used to quiz them about Darren Dreifort, the 1993 Golden Spikes Award winner who pitched and hit for Wichita State.

Now, Pacha is the one who will play at Eck Stadium while youngsters watch, as he is one of four transfers on the Wichita State roster from NCAA Division II schools.
