🌾 ONE BIG THING

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Festus Reunion. Wichita State cross country opens the season tomorrow at the JK Gold Classic at Clapp Cross Country Course, with the men's 6K off at 8 a.m. Among the group are Jonah Allison and Jacob Meyers, former high school rivals from Festus, Missouri, who now run together after Meyers pitched the Shockers to Allison. Wichita State is picked third in the American Conference with two first-place votes, returning conference champion and All-American Elkana Kipruto along with three other conference finishers. Transfers Nicholas Kipchirchir and Dennis Rono add more firepower to a group coach Kirk Hunter believes can contend.

🔼 Loaded Slate. Basketball is right around the corner, and the non-conference slate is in! Wichita State men's hoops will play a 13-game slate with 10 home dates and four matchups against teams that finished inside the top 80 of the NET last season. The Shockers open Nov. 4 at home against CSUN before heading to Lake Tahoe to face USC at the inaugural Caesars Lake Tahoe Classic. Black Friday brings a trip to Rupp Arena to take on Kentucky, and December features home dates with Boise State and a turnpike trip to face Kansas State at the T-Mobile Center. Koch Arena hosts 19 games this season, two more than last year, with ticket prices unchanged.

🔼 The Limit. Denning Gerig sits down with Coach Chris Lamb on this week's Coaches Show Podcast to talk about McKenzie Jones’ dominant start to the season. Don’t miss it!

🔼 Tee It Up. Wichita State baseball hosts the Shocker Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 9 at Crestview Country Club, with a four-person scramble teeing off at noon. Entry runs $250 per player or $1,000 per team and covers green fees, cart, range balls, lunch, beverages, a swag bag, and tournament prizes. Current Shocker players and staff will be on hand throughout the day, giving participants a chance to meet the 2027 roster. Hole sponsorships are available for $150 through Sept. 28.

🔼 Coming Soon. Wichita State is set to host Wichita State Shocker Madness on Oct. 3 at Charles Koch Arena! Details coming soon.

🔼 Welcome to Wichita. Wichita State baseball has added Daniel Stange to its coaching staff as Pitching Strategist and Director of Analytics. Stange arrives after a year as director of baseball operations at UC San Diego, following two seasons as the pitching coach at Utah Tech. He also spent seven seasons as head coach and athletic director at the University of St. Katherine, where he guided the Firebirds to a 159-127 record and a 2021 CalPac conference championship. Stange brings big league experience too, having pitched in the majors for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels.
