🌾 ONE BIG THING

Wichita State Athletics has announced details for this year's Shocker Madness event set for Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m., inside Charles Koch Arena. This year's Shocker Madness event once again serves as the culmination of Wichita State's Shocktoberfest homecoming week. The Brew Garden & Fan Fest will feature music provided by DJ Carbon, food trucks, local vendors serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a massive LED screen showing featured college football games, a pep rally with Shocker Sound Machine and WSU spirit squads and other tailgate activities in a family-friendly atmosphere.

🔼 Final Four. The Wichita State men's basketball team finished its 10th Round training session with around 40 minutes of work on Koch Arena's newly refinished court, a combination of running, sprinting, lifting and sled pulls. The 10th Round is targeted at the game's final four minutes by improving conditioning and mental strength through camaraderie. The Shockers, Mills said, went 4-8 in AAC games with a score within five points in the final five minutes. The goal, Mills said, is to make the Shockers better, not break them.

🗣️ "We need to do a better job of finishing, and that comes with going through a lot of these types of things. When you're in these kinds of battles, conditioning really matters. They have to know they've been through difficult situations; we've gotten through this together." - Paul Mills

🔼 First One Down. On the road in the desert, Arizona State defeated Wichita State in three sets on the first night of the Nebraska Classic. Brooklyn Leggett led the Shockers with five kills, while Gracie Morrow and Morgan Stout notched four apiece. The team will continue tournament play today against Long Beach State at 3 p.m.
