Today, Shocker baseball announces its fall schedule and ground has officially broken

Good morning! Not only did Shocker softball break ground on new additions to Wilkins Stadium, the team started its fall schedule with four games on the diamond over the weekend. See how the Shockers fared in its first games of the fall.

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Shocker baseball announced its fall exhibition schedule over the weekend, with two games against outside opposition and a five-game Black & Yellow Fall World Series. The Shockers will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, September 21 to begin the fall to take on Nebraska with a first pitch time scheduled for 1:00 pm. Wichita State and the Huskers split a two-game series this past spring at Eck Stadium. The Shockers will conclude the fall with the annual Black & Yellow Fall World Series, a five-game series from October 22-26 with each game scheduled as a 6-inning affair.

🔼 Making A Way. The past and present of Wichita State softball compared eras next to renderings that show plans for the future of Wilkins Stadium, starting with a $9.65 million phase and 10 black-and-yellow shovels. On Saturday, the major donors turned up dirt with commemorative shovels after Bredbenner and Saal talked about their appreciation and how the new facility will help the pursuit of championships.

🔼 Heavy Hitters. Shocker volleyball played a hard-fought match against No. 5 Nebraska but fell in straight sets to close out the weekend at the Nebraska Classic. Emerson Wilford was the only Shocker in double-figures with 12 kills while Annalie Heliste recorded a match-high 13 digs and Izzi Strand handed out 24 assists in defeat. The Shockers return to the friendly confines of Charles Koch Arena for the Shocker Volleyball Classic next week.

🔼 Teaming Up. Wichita State Athletics will once again be partnering up with the Wichita Wagonmasters at the 2024 Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff in Wichita on Saturday, Sept. 28. The 30-year-old Wichita tradition will be open to the public, and fans will be encouraged to stop by for free samples, merch and prizes.
