Wichita State closed out the Kennesaw State Invitational by splitting a pair of five-set matches on Saturday, falling to [RV] Indiana before reverse sweeping Kennesaw State to finish the weekend at 2-1. In the team’s season-opening match, the Shockers hit a blistering .436 for the match and committed one or zero attack errors in three of the four sets. After a tight match against Indiana, WSU came back to sweep the Owls, winning three sets in a row after being down two to begin the day.

Morgan Stout (41) and Emerson Wilford (35) led the team in kills while Izzi Strand shared the ball all weekend long, totaling 122 assists. The Shockers return to play on Wednesday at Kansas.

Wichita State women's cross country team opened its season with a team win under the lights at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic. Freshman Faith Ekart led the way for the women in her collegiate debut with a third-place finish in the 3-mile race, running 18:35.71 with sophomore Isabelle Hartnett finishing right behind her in fourth with a time of 18:38.18.
