Shocker Brew 9/6: Permanent Fixture

Today, baseball has a date at Globe Life Field and volleyball hits the road for the Wooo Pig Invitational

Good morning! The numbers don’t lie about the effects Shocker softball head coach Kristi Bredbenner has had on the program.

What else are we mixing into today’s edition of the Shocker Brew?

⚾️ A date at Globe Life Field
🏐 Shockers hit the road for Wooo Pig Invitational
🌾 And much, much more!

🌾 ONE BIG THING

For the first time in program history, Shocker baseball will have an opportunity to play at the home of the 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers’ home field at the 2025 Globe Life Field College Baseball Series.

The Shockers are taking part in the last of four midweek contests scheduled at Globe Life Field in 2025. The team will take on Texas State and Oklahoma State on February 18, Oklahoma and UT Arlington on February 19, and LSU and Dallas Baptist on February 26. The Shockers are coming off a 32-29 campaign in Brian Green's first season as head coach, culminating in the program's first appearance in the AAC tournament championship game.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Woo, More Like Wu. Wichita State volleyball aims to bounce back from a hard-fought loss at the hands of Kansas earlier in the week with a quick turnaround at the Wooo Pig Invitational this weekend, squaring off against No. 21 Arkansas and Little Rock. The Shockers and Razorbacks have played six times, with Wichita State holding a 4-2 lead in the series while WSU and the Trojans have split four all-time matches. Sitting at 2-2 on the season, the Shockers will look to come away with a pair of wins on the weekend before traveling to Nebraska next week.

🔼 Fall Slate. The fall quest begins for Shocker men’s tennis at the Black and Yellow on September 21 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the ITA All-American Championships. The team will also have a chance to compete in the first-ever AAC Individual Fall Championships, which will be hosted by Rice at George R. Brown Tennis Center October 24-27 in Houston, Texas.

🔼 Made Permanent. Ahead of this weekend’s 76th Annual JK Gold Classic, Wichita State track and field alumnus and long-time pole vault official Chris Ellis generously donated a permanent finish line for the Shockers' home cross country course at L.W. Clapp Park. Fans can watch the new finish line in use this Saturday, Sept. 7 as Wichita State runs in its home opener at 8 a.m.

🗣️ "Having a permanent finish line on your very own cross country course is significant to us moving forward with our cross country program. This is something we've always wanted, and for Chris Ellis to donate this is beyond words." - Kirk Hunter, head coach
