Shocker Brew 7/24: Winslow Wins Kansas Am

Michael Winslow won the 2024 Kansas Amateur.

🌾 ONE BIG THING

Men’s golfer Michael Winslow won the 114th Kansas Amateur title! Winslow defeated six golfers, including the reigning Kansas Am Champion and Shocker teammate Zack Sokolosky, to take the crown. A Shocker has now won the Amateur in back-to-back years. Winslow is the fourth Shocker since 2010 to win the event.

🔼 Anotha’ One. The American Volleyball Coaches Association honored the Wichita State volleyball program with the Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT. This is the 12th consecutive year the program has earned the award. The Shockers were also recognized to the AVCA Team Academic Award Honor Roll, which recognizes the top 20% of team GPAs in each division. The women had a 3.65 GPA in the 2023-24 academic year.

🔼 Reporting for Duty. Throughout the 2023-24 academic year, our student-athletes, coaches and staff continued their work achieving our strategic objectives associated with "The Shocker Way." Along the way, we've had huge wins in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Answer: Addison Barnard breaks records to cap off her career!

The Shocker softball legend ended her career with 93 home runs, fifth in NCAA history. She also ranks first in Shocker history with 229 RBI, 66 steals and a .873 slugging percentage.
